OK I have been sitting on this a few days. Thinking about how to respond.
There is no way the film can live up to the book for me. I mean it is one of my all time, no probably my all time favorite book. So it just isn’t possible.
I’m curious to see how they take the story and make it into a film. There is a lot of internal monologue, so I am curious to see how they handle that. I also think that it is some serious stuff to put in a film that is aimed at young people because young people are being murdered by other young people in order to survive. Also, they can’t be the same because one is a book and one is a movie. And those are different things. Would it be boring if it were exactly the same?
When I watch the trailer I do get chills but I think mostly because it reminds me of the story and how reading it effected me.
I noticed one detail from the trailer that they changed a detail that while isn’t major is way different from the book. I am hoping they don’t change too much though.
Also, I cannot lie. I am super excited for the merchandise!!!
I am hoping that there are people who see the movie and haven’t read the books and can’t wait for the next movie to come out so they read the books which maybe they wouldn’t have read otherwise. And who knows that could turn someone into a life-long reader.
